What is UWI?

The Universal Weldcom Interface (UWI) is designed for robotic welding power sources with modern digital interfaces. It provides a common interface while presenting information using power source manufacturer’s terminology. The software programs for UWI will operate the Miller (Auto-Continuum™), Lincoln (Power Wave^®), SKS (LSQ) and OTC (Welbee) digital power sources.

Programming with the UWI involves setting up an arc process table which is used to define the parameters that can be used for process control. There are up to 16 processes that can be defined – depending on power supply brand – but at least one is required. Arc welding instructions require a process number to be specified to list the proper parameters.

Pendants & Controller

Use either of our popular pendants for any of our HC or AR series welding robots. Smart Pendant can be used with Weld Builder, making robotic welding easy for any experience level.

Standard Pendant and Smart Pendant contain the same functionality and are completely interchangeable and compatible with each other. Pendants can be hot-swapped on a live controller.

UWI is exclusive to the YRC1000 standard controller (not compatible with previous generations or the YRC1000Micro).

Weld Builder

Weld Builder is a new ease of use application for the Smart Pendant. Weld Builder builds on UWI and offers a streamlined and guided experience for robotic welders at any level.
